Thoughtless design, horrible usability

Whoever designed this fridge clearly never used one before, it in so poorly designed. The dimensions ensure food gets lost in the back, and the shelves are so low and deep you have to reach far to grab anything. This fridge is a good choice for the traveler who's never home. For anyone else planning to keep more than a gallon of milk cold, pick any other model and you'll be better off.

We got ours at Best Buy. Great bargain, especially with the "open carton" discount, because we took a unit on display. The design cleverly lets us maximize useful space in our tiny kitchen, which we're remodeling. Not only is it only 28 inches wide, but also not having door handles and having a cleverly designed storage door that permits removing the storage bins with the door open only the full 90 degrees, it solved some big problems for us. (Nonetheless, we are allowing a 30-inch space for the future just in case, because we're also installing granite counter tops. But a 30-inch wide refrigerator with door handles and doors that would have to be opened past 90 degrees to remove the crisper bins would have required a 35-inch allowance.) The refrigerator could be quieter, but the manual makes it clear that is a price paid for energy efficiency. We have only one beef with the design. There's one shelf that features a right-to-left sliding storage bin, and that bin tends to tip forward and spill out when it's opened or when items are stored in its front. Another things we disliked was the "standard" ice maker. We consider an ice maker unnecessary and a waste of freezer space.

I shopped around and found that Whirlpool was the only Company that offered a small unit with a built in ice maker in the freezer and didn't charge extra. My first all black appliance and I love it. I bought a black front stove and microwave several years ago and now my kitchen has matching appliances and it looks great. I love the extra large shelves in the door and especially the lowest full length shelf in the door which allows me to put water bottles there easy to reach.

This fridge is really basic but it has everything I want and need. It is a replacement for an old, and not very nice, model that was old and not very nice when I moved into my home thirteen years ago. It has nice glass shelves, good fruit and vegetable bins, a moveable meat and cheese drawer and plenty of space. The freezer is spacious as well and has an ice maker feature. Both fridge and freezer have good door shelf space as well. I am really very pleased with this appliance and am glad I made the purchase. The price was most reasonable too!

It works as you would expect. We didn't realize till it was in use how difficult it is to see what is on the top shelf. Because of the thickness of the doors, made for two liter bottles it shortens the top shelf. Also the controls & light take up valuable space located front and center. If you are tall than 5'8'' it is more noticeable.We did like the glass shelves as it helps to see items on the lower selves.The worse feature is the lack of a proper handle to open the door. You have to reach in between the doors and pull using the indented area on the top of the lower door and pull the bottom of the top door to open them. This is not good if you have fat hands, weak fingers or arthritis.I only would recommend this if the above problems don't concern the buyer.

This refrigerator is lovely to look at....it runs too much and is way to noisy. The freezer space is too small and the large door compartments only allow condiments to fall ie. not all containers are gallon size.

We bought this after the GE we had died. Haven't had it all that long, but so far, we are very pleased with it. It fits in our kitchen better than the side-by-side we had before, and we can put pizzas in the freezer without having to stand them up! I think the freezer holds more than the old side-by-side did and the food is more accessible. I only have one problem with the freezer and that is I keep banging my head on it when I am looking for something in the refrigerator_especially stuff my husband has put in there. I just have to get used to pulling my head away from the freezer door sooner. Now that there are just the two of us and our children have all grown up, we really don't need anything bigger. We've lived in this house on our farm for 40 years, and have replaced 4 refrigerators by now, including Frigidaires, Maytag, and GE. I hope this is the last one we have to buy!

While it isn't the best fridge I've had, it certainly isn't the worst. A few weird items with this. The tray in the freezer doesn't go all the way to the back, so stuff will fall down in the back. Also, there is nothing to hold the ice cube bucket/tray thing in place. So, if it happens to move forward, the ice will go behind the ice cube bucket/tray and then fall down to the bottom level.Also, some of the trays in the main compartment of the fridge don't work very nicely.It is a bit noisy, but as long as you don't sleep in the kitchen, I think you should be o.k.It was a decent price too.

After buying this fridge I love it. It has tons of space and shelves are easily adjustable. The door is easily switched to open from either side and for a lower price model it seems to do the job just as well as any other fridge. The only downfall would be the noise. It is not really loud, but louder than my last fridge, that would not inhibit me buying this fridge again though.

We bought this refrigerator about two months ago for our vacation home in the mountains. It is spacious and has a well-finished interior, but the fridge is very noisy in its operation. That is a major nuisance as the compressor switches on very often and is very loud.

The fridge is energy star rated a big plus. The shelves have the spill guard, another plus. It is quiet, holds enough food for our family of 3. Love the shelf in the freezer. Only wish the icemaker was optional rather than standard, as we do not use it. Felt it was a good value for the money spent.

We were looking for a slightly smaller refrigerator than we had before and this one fit the bill. The inside is roomier than it looks and the only thing I would really improve is the size of the freezer, which is a little bit small. The only other complaint would be that one of the pull out drawers tends to fall all the way out if you pull it out past the midpoint, but otherwise, it's a great little refrigerator at a reasonable price.

Placed service call because ice cream was like soup in freezer. Upped the temp and still have problem. Very inconsistent freezer temp, thruout. Poorly designed air vent, easily blocked. Fridge has insulation showing on ceiling. Don't know if this is cosmetic or maybe insulation never properly done.Seems every time I open fridge door, motor runs. Consumer reports rates this fridge as "Fair" in terms of noise . Consider this a generous rating. It is VERY NOISY.As far as design - it is a big clunky box and the fridge is just OK. It is awkward in terms of space because of the door shelves extend into the fridge space, and the light is in a place that keeps getting knocked into the OFF position! Little nagging design flaws.But, for a spare fridge in a place like a garage, where you don't hear it, it's OK, but I'd still go for a better quality freezer!

This refrigerator is a nice size for a single person or small family. It has a wonderful streamline design and the magnetic front is a plus. The ice maker comes with the refrigerator (you don't have to buy separately), and it has an adequate amount of shelves and bins. The freezer is a bit small and there is no light in the freezer, but that is my only complaint. The price is good if you want a simple, nice looking product.

Due to limited space in my condo, I was looking for a Stainless Steel Refrigerator with the least depth, and reasonable width. This was it, it looks great, and based on 1 electric bill, I am saving $. My old refrig was 32 years old, and still going, so, I wanted to buy a Whirlpool. Some really good features such as sliding glass shelves and adjustable vegetable /fruit bins. But single temperature control is a bummer! Cannot get freezer cold enough without getting items freezing in the refrigerator compartment. Probably separate control is a cost issue, but competing models at least have manually adjustable baffles to get a little control.

This refrigerator seems to work great. Stays very cold and makes plenty of ice. On the flip side, the bottom wheels do not roll because the foam insulation seeped into them. The meat and cheese tray does not glide easy. Other than that it seems to work well.

Freezer compartment is small but adequate. Main compartment area is slightly restricted by door closure. Nevertheless, since the refrigerator came with the new house I bought I can't complain, and it does the job.

This refrigerator is smaller than my previous one and fits in so much better. Other than it sounds periodically like an ice cube dropping in the box (don't have the ice cube tube hooked up) it runs very nicely.

I like the washer and price was right. It's a little noisy and takes a while to complete the cycle, but this is typical for energy saving products today. I would recommend this one.

We bought this fridge to put in our newly remodeled basement; so we don't use it that often, but it is nice to have for extra storage if we ever have a big gathering and need extra space to keep things cool. We love that it has an automatic ice maker. It has been a great fridge so far.
